The Amorepacific Museum of Art is pleased to present its inaugural exhibition for the first half of 2024, "STEVEN HARRINGTON: STAY MELLO." The contemporary art exhibition introduces the work of Steven Harrington, an artist based in Los Angeles, USA, to the Korean audience for the first time.
Steven Harrington, a celebrated artist and designer, is renowned for his works infused with California's landscapes and culture. Behind his visually delightful pieces, characterized by a vibrant palette, lies the artist's contemplation on life's balance, anxiety, and the subconscious. Notably, the recurring appearance of characters like 'Mello,' symbolizing the subconscious, and 'Lulu,' inspired by palm trees, marks a distinctive feature of his work.
The exhibition showcases a vast array of Harrington's creations, including a large-scale painting measuring 10 meters and notable series such as "Getting Away (2021-2023)" and "Stop to Smell the Flowers (2022-2023)." Additionally, early print works, paper and digital drawings, the artist's sketchbooks, and related videos are on display, offering a comprehensive experience of Harrington's artistic universe. Visitors will also encounter 'Mello,' a character from his works, in large sculptures throughout the exhibition space.
Also highlighted are Harrington's collaborations with global brands. Featured items include limited edition sneakers from Nike, BE@RBRICK figures from BAPE, and works created in partnership with Moncler, IKEA, UNIQLO, and innisfree.
The Amorepacific Museum of Art representative said, "This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the world of Steven Harrington, an artist and designer known for his unique approach to universally resonant themes."
In conjunction with the exhibition, the Amorepacific Museum of Art will host various events, including the 'Artist Talk' session on March 8, during which the artist will directly interact with the public. The museum shop will sequentially release limited edition art toys and art products in collaboration with the global outdoor brand Helinox.
