  • First company to receive the top honor in the Carbon Neutrality Winner category for corporate activities.

Amorepacific announced on the 18th that it was honored with both the 'Carbon Neutrality Award' and the 'Minister of Environment Award' at the 27th Energy Winner Awards ceremony, hosted by the Consumers Union of Korea and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Environment, and the Korea Energy Agency. This marks the first time a company’s activities, rather than a product, have won the top award in the Carbon Neutrality Winner category.

The 'Energy Winner Awards' are divided into two main categories: the 'Energy Winner Award,' which recognizes products that excel in energy savings and high efficiency, and the 'Carbon Neutrality Winner Award,' which is granted to companies or products that demonstrate outstanding performance in carbon neutrality-related activities and achievements. The 'Carbon Neutrality Winner Award' was newly established in 2022 in response to the growing necessity of carbon neutrality in the face of climate change. The most exceptional products and activities in this category are selected for the grand prize, with top honors including the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award and the Minister of Environment Award.

In 2021, Amorepacific declared its sustainable management goal, '2030 A More Beautiful Promise,' and joined the RE100 initiative, committing to transition 100% of the electricity used across all its operations to renewable energy by 2025. The company has made significant strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through continuous energy conservation, installing solar power generation facilities, and procuring renewable energy through Power Purchase Agreements (PPA). As of 2023, Amorepacific’s major production sites, including Osan Amore Beauty Park, Daejeon Daily Beauty, and Shanghai Beauty, have achieved RE100 at the site level, using 100% renewable energy for production.

Amorepacific has also established a 4R (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Return) strategy for its packaging materials, creating a circular plastic model by reducing unnecessary plastic use, enhancing recyclability, and promoting the reuse and return of containers. By expanding the application of recycled plastics and reducing the weight of packaging materials, the company reduced its consumption of new petroleum-based plastics by 1,900 tons in 2023.

Amorepacific plans to continue leading various carbon neutrality initiatives centered on its sustainable management goal, 'A MORE Beautiful Promise.'
