AmorePacific(CEO Kyung-bae Seo) opened a ceremony for AmorePacific New Skin Scientist Research Support Program at the Harmony Ball Room of Intercontinental Hotel at COEX, 4:00 PM on 17th
This ceremony is a continuous activity since the last MOU with Korea Medical Institute of Dermatology announced last June 10, AmorePacific will support researched with 0.72 billion won for five years. This time, four new professors in the skin science sector first for the ceremony, and they will receive research fund of 20 million won for two years. Also, AmorePacific let Korea Medical Institute of Dermatology and Aesthetics select the researchers in order for the selecting process to be objective.
The first selected researchers are Joo-hee Lee from Yoense University of Medicine, Osang Kwon from Seoul University of Medicine, Sungeun Jang from Woolsan University of Medicine, and Byung-soo Kim from Pusan University of Medicine. Each selected scientists will proceed with their researches according to research plants they submitted. Professor Joo-hee Lee will research on skin light aging due to UV rays; and professor Kwon will research on fiber mother cell’s characteristics of structure protein synthesis and its effect on homeostasis of the derma. The first selected researchers are Joo-hee Lee from Yoense University of Medicine, Osang Kwon from Seoul University of Medicine, Sungeun Jang from Woolsan University of Medicine, and Byung-soo Kim from Pusan University of Medicine.
Hak-hee Kang, president of Cosmetics Technology Institute in AmorePacific said, “We will make effort to create environment so that talented new skin scientists can concentrate on basic researches though research supports.” Also, in the future, we will do our best to invigorate the knowledge interchange between industry and university through continuous academic interchange between AmorePacific and skin scientists.”
Domestic skin science and beauty areas or clinical dermatology area are advanced compared to international standard whereas the basic research is not. In this situation, AmorePacific’s support is expected to contribute to the development of beauty industry and basic skin science researches.
Meanwhile, AmorePacific has established “AmorePacific Female Scientist Award” and supported domestic female scientists who contributed to the development of science with their outstanding achievements. AmorePacific Female Scientist Award includes a total of 80 million won, which is the largest amount as a female scientist award. AmorePacific has produced 32 winners through four ceremonies until 2009. This year, we have received applications until June 30, and will have the 5th ceremony around November after evaluation.
